1000 Cranes

I remember going to the museum as a little girl and seeing an exhibit with 1000 cranes hanging from the ceiling. A girl named Sadako lived through the bombing of Hiroshima but later developed lukemia. Japanese folklore says that if you fold 1000 cranes, you get a wish. She began folding cranes to earn her wish, to live. Sadly, she died before she finished, but her family and friends completed her project.

Then a gal named Sandy decided to take the idea of cranes + hope and spread it in her own way. She's making 100 paper cranes, each with its own message - words like Radiant, Freedom and Trustworthy. Then she releases the cranes, placing them in public areas waiting to be found. It's her own little way of spreading hope.
